Concrete Volume
Cubic yards/meters for slab/footing
About Concrete Volume
A concrete-volume calculator turns slab or footing dimensions into cubic yards of concrete to order. Concrete is sold and delivered by the cubic yard in the US (cubic metre elsewhere) and ordering too little means a costly half-truck return trip, while too much means paying for product you don't use.
Frequently asked questions
Add 5-10% for waste, spillage, and uneven subgrade. For small pours, add even more proportionally — a half-cubic-yard shortfall on a 2-yard pour is a full delivery failure.
4 inches for passenger cars; 5-6 inches if trucks or RVs will park on it. Add wire mesh or rebar for crack resistance.
Most ready-mix plants have a 1 cubic yard minimum and charge a 'short load' fee under ~3-4 cubic yards. Bag-mix is cheaper for tiny jobs (1 bag ~ 0.011 cubic yards).
Concrete starts setting within 30-90 minutes depending on temperature, mix, and admixtures. Have all tools and helpers ready before the truck arrives.
3000-3500 psi for residential slabs; 4000+ psi for driveways with vehicle traffic. The mix is specified to the supplier — they handle the proportions.
