What this does

Compute your ideal body weight (IBW) using the four most-cited clinical formulas — Devine (1974), Robinson (1983), Miller (1983) and Hamwi (1964). Each formula gives a base weight for a 5-foot person and adds a fixed number of kg per inch above that. All four are shown side by side in both kg and lb, plus the healthy BMI weight range for your height.

Why four formulas?

Because there is no single 'correct' answer — every formula is a rough estimate derived from a population sample. Clinicians most often cite Devine (used for drug-dose calculations). Robinson updates Devine with slightly lower numbers. Miller is lower still. Hamwi is the oldest and highest.

How to interpret

IBW formulas ignore muscle mass, body-fat percentage, ethnicity and age. For a bodybuilder or an elderly patient they will under- or over-estimate. Use them as one signal alongside BMI, waist-to-height ratio, and body-fat percentage — not as an absolute goal.
