About the Brainstorm Board

Brainstorm Board — at a glance

Every idea on its own note, every note draggable, every note color-codable. This is the digital version of the wall-of-post-its method that actually works for generating ideas — get them all up, then physically move them into clusters until themes emerge.

Why use Toolenza for this?

Brainstorming tools fail when they try to be smart. The best ones get out of your way and let you dump freely, then cluster visually. Toolenza's board does exactly that: drop ideas as fast as you can think them, color-code them by category (or by person, or by feasibility), drag them into piles, take the artifact away as a PNG. No AI suggestions, no formatting prompts, no "connecting" mode — just notes you can move around with your hands.

A real sticky-notes board in your browser

Toolenza's sticky-notes board is a virtual cork board you can drop colored notes onto, drag them around, and share with anyone — no sign-up, no account, no upload of your content. Notes save to your browser automatically, and Pro users get the same boards synced across every device they sign in on.

It's built for the moments where physical post-its used to work best: brainstorming a new idea, running a quick retro, mapping out a customer journey, or just jotting reminders that you want to see rather than file away. The drag-and-drop feel, the slight rotation on each note, the eight-color palette — they're there because messy beats tidy when you're trying to think out loud.

What it's good for

  • Retrospectives — three columns of "keep / change / start", color-coded per teammate, exported as PNG when the meeting ends
  • Brainstorming — capture every idea on its own note, then physically cluster them by theme
  • Kanban / personal task boards — to-do / doing / done, with one note per task
  • Mind mapping — start with a center note and radiate outwards
  • Mood boards — drop colored notes for a vibe, swap colors to find a palette
  • Daily standups — drop a note per attendee with their three updates, share the link in chat

How sharing works

Clicking Share link encodes the entire board into a URL hash. Send it to a teammate and their browser unpacks the same board — same notes, same positions, same colors. No server roundtrip, no expiry. For Pro accounts, the board is also kept in sync across every device you sign into Toolenza on, so you can start on your laptop and finish on your phone.

Privacy

Free-tier boards live in your browser's localStorage and never leave your device. Pro-tier boards are stored against your account in our database and encrypted in transit. Either way, we never read the contents of your notes — they're just blobs to us.

Frequently asked questions

Miro and FigJam are powerful but they expect a sign-up, a team account, and a learning curve. This board is for the moment you just need to dump ideas and group them. Zero signup, zero onboarding, opens in any browser.

Yes — it works as well solo as it does in a group. Keep multiple boards for different topics via the board switcher.

Add ideas in any color first to get them all on the board. Then start grouping physically — drag related notes near each other. When clusters form, recolor each cluster a single color to lock the grouping visually.

Not by default. Free-tier sticky boards live entirely in your browser's localStorage. Pro users opt into cross-device sync, which stores boards against your account so you can reach them from any device.

Yes. Click *Share link* and the entire board encodes into a URL hash. Send the URL to anyone — when they open it, their browser unpacks the same notes at the same positions with the same colors. No sign-up required on either side.

Unlimited on both free and Pro plans. Switch boards via the dropdown in the toolbar.

Yes — Pro users can export the whole canvas as a high-resolution PNG (great for meeting minutes, retro artifacts, or social posts). All users can export to Markdown, JSON, or plain text.

Pro users get the last 50 snapshots of every board, with one-click restore. Free users keep an in-session undo via Ctrl+Z.

Yes — notes are draggable with touch, and the canvas reflows to fit your screen. The double-click-to-edit gesture maps to a double-tap on mobile.
